Dreary Day

The weather has been very dismal the last couple of days. Foggy with drissel and very grey skies but looks very pretty.

The season is all over the place, most trees have lost their leaves but a few haven't as shown above.

I was commisioned to make a crocheted scarf and finished it within four days. I am pretty pleased how it turned out.

I used Stlylecraft 4ply and doubled it up so it came out thicker o it will be lovely and warm as it contains real wool.

Shawls

It has been a while since I last posted, a year to be exact! I have recently taken up crochet again and I am really enjoying it. I am hoping to start cross stitching again.

I have just finished two shawls, the photos do not do them justice.

This one was done in Stylecraft Cabaret in Rainbow and the wool is lovely and sparkly.

This one was done in Wendy Evolution.

I am currently finishing off a single sized bed blanket and an owl.

Busy Busy Busy, Bee!

I have had a busy couple of weeks with different things going on.

It was my granddaughters six Birthday a few days ago.

Annie is mad about My Little Pony and she loved her cake which her mummy had made for her.

My grandchildren all loved the face painter that Annie had at her party.

The following day, I had some of the grandchildren visiting.

My little Dolly Dawg got in on the action too!

------------------

Last Sunday was Pirates Day here in Hastings. We still hold the Guinness World Record for the most pirates in one place. The town was absolutely packed with pirates from all over  and with lots going on. Great fun being a pirate as well as drumming :)

------------
On to my stitching. I have half finished 'Wrong Side' by Imaginating.

Before:

Now:

Stitched one over two with Week's Dyes and a bit of DMC. I have now rotated to my Green Man HAED.

Before:

And now page two finished!

Loving how it is starting to look.

I finally finished the second side of my sunflower biscornu.

I just need to find time to put it together. I have put a few beads into lavender Fields but not enough to take a picture.

I brought a Zenbroidery to have a go at. I have only really done embroidery on things like my Castles in the Air by Papillon Stitches, which I enjoy doing. This is freestyle so I can learn as I go along and it will be great for using up odds and ends of thread.

Last but not least a photo of my twin boys and me took at Annie's party. They are eighteen and tower over me now.

------------

I have gone into business with my friend Phil and we are both really busy crafting so we can open our Etsy shop.

Below is a small sample of the beautiful things Phil makes with wood. I will be crafting jewellery and needle minders to start with.

Stitching and Drumming............

Ah, yes, stitching and drumming but not at the same time!

First up is 'Spirit' HAED (Heaven and Earth Designs):

Before:

Now:

I dug out an old UFO that is quite close to being finished. It is called 'Natures Vision' and is now currently out of print.

Before:

Now:

I have finished all the stitching and backstitching on Lavender Fields by Mill Hill. I just need to do all the beading now.

The sunflower Biscornu is coming along slowly but surely.

Before:

Now:

I have two new starts. The first one is 'Wrong Side', which is my rotation piece.

So far, I am really enjoying stitching on this as the threads are Weekes Dyes. It is 1 strand over two threads on 32 count linen.

Lastly, I started a Christmas ornament:

It will be a snowman when it's a finished.

I purchased another HAED chart, I couldn't help myself.

It will take a few months to kit up gradually but I can't wait to start it................that will be my fourth HAED on the go..............a glutton for punishment lol.

Last Saturday we drummed at a children's fete in Robertsbridge. It was a lovely afternoon, drumming, drinking fruit ladened Pimms and even did a drum shop for the children :)
There weren't many drummers out as we had two events on the same day which was divided between us. Plus some drummers don't seem to like to travel far, which is a shame.

Colin and I.

Anyone for Pimms?

Armed Forces Day and Stitching Update

Today I drummed at our local Armed Forces day in Alexander Park. The weather was a bit all over the place. Sun out, then cloudy and windy then sun out again, in a repeating pattern. It did spit a little but luckily the rain held off. I had to get there early as the organisers wanted some drums to make a Drum Altar.

It was in honour of the military musicians that have died in combat.

In attendance were some Gurkhas who have fought bravely for Britain for many years now as part of the British Army.

The gentleman in the wheelchair is Bob, and drums with Section 5 :)

Royal Airforce merchandise. I love the ducks!

Poppy Day merchandise.

Put a silly hat on for today, life can't be serious all the time :)

A few of Section 5 chilling before the drumming.

The other half Sir Grumpy Colin
